Cigarettes Are Hazardous To Your Health Day began in 1964 when the U.S. Surgeon General, Luther Terry, issued the first government report saying that smoking is hazardous to your health. Since that time, organizations such as Anti-smoking.org, Smokefree America, and The Truth have continued to issue warnings about the hazards of smoking. It is estimated that smoking-related diseases cause more than 440,000 American deaths annually, and costs the United States over $150 billion each year in health care costs.

They see accomplishing their mission by raising awareness of the deadly impact of lung cancer upon both women and men, by increasing funding for lung cancer research and by improving patient care by educating and empowering patients and healthcare professionals.
My mother passed away in 1988 from lung cancer. It was a battle I wish didn’t have to wage. I dedicate this, and honor her with my donation.
